10 Logos That Don't Belong on Creattica

Thursday, March 11, 2010

While surfing around the logos section of Creattica yesterday, I saw more than a few logos that didn't seem to belong on this once prestigious source of inspiration. It used to be that 99% of the logos I saw on Creattica seemed to belong because 1.) they were an incredibly clever idea or 2.) they required a crazy amount of artistic talent. From what I saw yesterday, it seems like Creattica's standards have been slipping lately. This is all my own opinion of course, and I'd like to point out that I am not saying the logos and artists behind them aren't good, just that they don't stylistically match what I've come to expect from Creattica (many of my own logos don't match Creattica's style either). Of all the sites that offered logo inspiration, I used to think of Creattica as the best but now their selection of logos seems to be watered down. I'm sure there will be plenty of people who disagree with me so let me know what you think either way.

Bar-B-Q Blast

I understand that the black border lines are supposed to look "charred" and I see the fire in the red and yellow and the smoke in the middle "B" but this logo doesn't seem like it belongs on Creattica stylistically.

E-Process

This logo just seems like it's from 1990 to me. It's well done, but the style seems old.

NCCYC

I'm not a big fan of shape people and again I think this is very 90's and out of date.

Medical Imaging

I must be missing something here. The line might possibly be a persons body curves or something but the font seems less than spectacular and I don't see how this is inspiring enough to be included on Creattica. Nothing against the designer or client, it might be perfect for their purposes, just not for Creattica in my opinion.

Socialnatwork

Okay, I'm guessing this is supposed to be a tree/thought bubble. Again, I just don't see how this was good enough to land on Creattica considering it's just green gradient circles repeated on top of each other. I think it could be a clever idea but probably didn't require a "crazy amount of artistic talent" to complete.

7 Apples Entertainment

I'm sure this was somewhat difficult to make, but it looks old to me as opposed to cutting edge. That could be what they were going for here but it doesn't seem to belong on Creattica...

Loop

Simplicity is sometimes great, but this doesn't seem to be executed as well as it should have been. Mainly, the stems of the arrows have kinks in them instead of being smooth like the rest of the text that they are coming out of.

Thinkgreen

I know a lot of people really like this logo, but how many times had this leaf/tree look been done? I've done my fair share, that's for sure, but the point here is that it's not really a "clever idea" and probably didn't take too long to create either. Sometimes that fine--it's a good enough logo, but it doesn't seem to meet the two requirements stated above.

Seeu.ru

I guess the reason I included this on the list is that it is representative of a few logos on Creattica that don't have any discernible meaning, so what's the clever idea here? It's like the Reuters logo, trying to be cool just to be cool, but not even as complicated.

Lionhut

I hate to include this here, because I know whoever designed it spent some time on the idea and development. It just seems like it was maybe done in MS Paint or something. It's a decent idea but doesn't seem to match the Creattica style.
